The greatest mysteries have a shadowy figure at the center—someone who sets things in motion and holds the key to how the story unfolds. In epidemiology, this central character is known as Patient Zero—the case at the heart of an outbreak. We will dive into a molecular detective story where students become virus hunters as they interpret virus DNA fingerprints to identify the viral strain responsible for a potentially deadly fictitious disease outbreak. Learn the science and history behind some of the worlds most feared illnesses. The camp ends with a Clue like game of who was patient zero, how die they get the virus and where were they at the time.
