Summer Theatre Arts Bootcamp

Program Description

The Summer Theatre Arts Bootcamp is a performing arts opportunity for Capital School District students in grades 5-12 to have access to theater arts during the summer break. Theatre gives students the opportunity to learn the importance of teamwork by allowing them to see things from a different perspective. It allows individuals to creatively express themselves while building self confidence and by reinforcing problem solving skills.  Not only will students learn body awareness, but they will also strengthen their public speaking skills through warm up activities and dramatic presentations. As students express themselves through drama, they will learn how to effectively interpret and communicate their thoughts and feelings through freedom of expression as they build positive and long lasting relationships with their peers. The  goal is to introduce the theater to students who have never had the opportunity to be in a drama class and to bridge the gap between middle schoolers and high schoolers. During this summer bootcamp, we will explore different types of theaters and create a performance that can be used as a resource to recruit students to join the theater program in the Capital School District.
