Maintains and improves the state’s beaches including coastal construction activities, depositing sand on beaches, planting beach grass and installing fencing to promote establishment of dunes. State liaison for the National Flood Insurance Program, the section also oversees the operation of the Indian River Sand Bypass System designed to provide an on-going source of sand nourishment to the north side of Indian River Inlet. Responsible for state dredging operations, macro algae harvesting and marking navigational channels in the Inland Bays.
