The Recorder of Deeds maintains many documents that play a vital role in researching property titles. The Recorder of Deeds is the repository for all land transaction records, corporate filings and financing statements. Responsibilities include receiving, recording, processing, delivering and providing copies of the following: deeds, deed restrictions, easements, mortgages, assignments, satisfaction of mortgages, partial releases of mortgages, federal tax liens, plot plans, military discharges and many other documents related to real and personal property. These records provide a history of land development and ownership that can be useful in historical and genealogical research.
