In this camp, youth learn bicycle mechanics by building a bike starting with just a frame and a box of parts. At the end of camp, campers go home with the bike they built. Campers also spend time exploring the connection between volunteerism and healthy communities, and participate in a variety of community service projects and outdoor activities, such as rock climbing and mountain biking. Includes a refurbished bicycle. This camp does not require prior knowledge of bicycle mechanics. Campers should know how to ride a bicycle, but experience riding distances is not required. Campers can be dropped off at 8:30am and picked up at 4:30pm from Urban Bike Project’s shop at 1500 N. Walnut Street each day, except for Friday afternoon. Friday evening, families are invited to join us at Bellevue State Park for an end-of-camp barbecue from 4-6pm. Families who are unable to make the barbecue will be able to pick campers up from the shop at 6:30pm.
This program is available to children no matter where they live or go to school. If you have additional questions or want to learn more, please contact our team. We'd be happy to assist you!
