The Division of Waste & Hazardous Substances (DWHS) oversees the handling, transfer, storage, disposal, and management of solid waste and hazardous materials through regulations, monitoring, inspections, emergency response, and environmental regulation enforcement. The Division is also responsible for managing above- and underground storage tank sites, boiler safety, hazardous waste sites, brownfields, the Voluntary Cleanup Program and enforcement and site remediation under the Hazardous Substance Cleanup Act throughout the First State.
