Polytech Parents as Teachers

Polytech Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a free home visiting program available to Delaware parents with children prenatal through kindergarten entry.  The PAT vision is that all children will learn, grow, and develop to realize their full potential.  PAT educates parents about early childhood development and positive parenting practices, provides early detection of development delays, helps to prevents child abuse and neglect, increases school readiness and school success, and connects families with community resources.  Knowledgeable educators achieve that through sharing research based methods and information, fostering positive parenting interaction, assisting in relationships between families and communities, and promoting school readiness.  We offer Stay & Plays and Family Fun events throughout Kent and Sussex Counties.  Must have one family stressor to qualify.  Family stressors include: teen parent, child and/or parent with disability or chronic health conditions, less than HS diploma or GED, low income, recent immigrant or refugee family, substance abuse, court appointed legal guardians and/or foster care, homeless or unstable housing, incarcerated parent, very low birth weight, death in immediate family, domestic violence, child abuse or neglect, and military deployment.
